The Omonia Square, is the city’s other great sq., literally its pulse, with a combination of modern and neoclassical architecture. The closer you come to the Acropolis, the more the ancient monuments become: the fine temple of Zeus with its Corinthian pillars and the Arch of the Emperor Hadrian.Mastering all of the above, we visit the imposing Acropolis. The Athenian Acropolis stands alone in its unique combination of grandeur, beauty and historical associations. Tour Duration : 12 hours (approximately)
Tour Description: A visit to the Argolis region in Peloponnese. Leave Athens early in the morning for the Corinth Canal via the scenic highway. Pass by Ancient Corinth, one of the most important cities of ancient Greece and continue on to Mycenae, the Homeric City of Atreidae. The fortified citadel of Mycenae and the Mycenaean civilization to which it gave its name, where first introduced to the world by Heinrich Schliemann’s excavations from 1876 onwards, which carried the history of Europe far back into the Bronze Age of the 2nd millennium BC. Visit the famous tholos tomb known as the “Treasury of Atreus” or the ‘Tomb of Agamemnon’; the Lion Gate; and the ruined Palace. The tour then proceeds through the fertile plain of Argolis to Nafplion, where the visitor is claimed by the dramatic setting of the city, a magnificent situation in the Golf of Argolis under the rocky promontory of Akronafplia (89m-279ft) and the fortified hill of Palamidi. This town preserves a number of Venetian buildings, two Turkish mosques and neo-classical houses dating from the time of King Otto. Palamidi can be reached from the ridge of two hills on a flight of 857 steps (partly roofed over) or less strenuously, by the 3km long motor road. Bourdzi, picturesque and mysterious, is a little islet 500m (547 yards), offshore, which is also fortified. According to the mythology, Naufplios, son of Poseidon and Amymone, founded the town. Lunch at traditional restaurant in Nauplion. After lunch some time at leisure to stroll in the narrow streets of the town. In the afternoon drive to Epidaurus, the most famed sanctuary of Asklepios, the god of medicine. It is also the location of the best known and best preserved of all ancient Greek theatres where performances are still taking place. Its superb acoustics, admired by contemporary theatergoers, reveal that the great ancestors knew well how to make the most of the morphology of a site when building a theatre. Its proportions confer a harmonic symmetry on the entire structure. The theatre was built in the early fourth century BC. In the early evening return to Athens.

Tour 3: Full day Delphi
Tour Duration : 12 hours (approximately)
Tour Description: Leave Athens early in the morning for Delphi via the National Highway passing through the spectacular sites of Boetia, Thebes and Levadia Delphi is by common consent the most spectacularly beautiful ancient site in Greece and the one, which, even to the uninitiated, most vividly evokes the Classical past. In the antiquity Delphi was regarded as the navel of the world (omphalos of the earth) and to this, and its oracle, the place owed its prestige, which extended far beyond the Greek world. A visit to Delphi is divided into three parts: the Sanctuary of Apollo which roofed the monument of the navel of the world and the oracle, the Stadium, dated in the Roman times lying on an altitude of approx. 3,000 ft., the Castalian spring and the Sanctuary of Athena at Marmaria; and the Museum. The Museum rebuilt in 1959-61 and splendidly arranged, is especially rich in Archaic sculpture from the site; the free-standing work may be compared with that in the Acropolis museum, while the relief sculpture ranks with the Aegina marbles in Munich. It includes spectacular finds, including the world-famous Charioteer, bronze statue of the early 5th century BC, the Naxian Sphinx, and the Statue of Antinoos. Lunch takes place in a local restaurant. Before returning to Athens, there will be a stop at the picturesque mountain village of Arachova. In the early evening return to Athens.
PRICE PER PERSON (with lunch): € 100 (min. participation 25 persons)
